2018 was a really good year for me. It was the first year that I set goals and I discovered that I really enjoyed doing this. I loved the satisfaction that came when I was able to tick a box and mark something as completed as well as looking back at everything I had accomplished. I ended 2018 on such a high note and feeling successful has made me so motivated to jump into 2019 and get things done!
Living Healthier…
I know this has got to be one of the biggest New Years resolution cliches there is. This is usually the biggest item on everyone’s resolutions, but no one ends up sticking with it. However, this goal isn’t just about me wanting to lose a few pounds.
Surgery last year took a huge toll on my body. I don’t know what I was expecting recovery to look like, but this certainly wasn’t it. My stamina stinks, my muscle tone is poor, and some of my clothes aren’t fitting the way they used to (and not in a good way.). I’m not looking to do anything radical- I’m not going vegetarian, you won’t be seeing workout videos on my insta stories, nor will I be giving up chocolate.
What I would like to do is get back into yoga (something I haven’t been able to do for 4 years), eat more meals that aren’t solely made up of carbs, and start switching out caffeinated beverages for water. (Pray for me- I love my Coke Zero)
Travel More…
One of the best parts of last year was how many new places I got to go! I already have a couple of trips in the works, but I’d love to do a few more day/weekend trips. I’m thinking of sticking to places that are within a few hours drive from me- Charleston, Savannah, Asheville, Columbia, and Knoxville (which is near where my sister lives). Anywhere else I should check out?
Also- If you live in one of those places and are interested in booking a session, hit me up! If I’ll already be there on the date you’re interested in, I can waive travel fees!!
Work Smarter – Not Harder…
Last year I got a lot accomplished when it came to work- I launched my new website, I went full-time with photography, and invested a lot more in my work education. But if I had had more structure, stability, and boundaries in my life- I could have done even more. I’m trying to make more strategic choices going into 2019- Streamline my workflows and systems, really utilize my client management software (I use HoneyBook – If you want to try it click the link for 20% off.), finish my office so that I’m working from somewhere other then my bed… :), and making sure I take 2 days off every week.
Say No More Often…
I was really hesitant to share this online, but my word for 2019 is “No”. I’m a people pleaser- I love making other people happy, to the extent that I will often stay in situations and relationships that are sucking the life out of me. I found a quote on Pinterest I loved “If it isn’t making me money, making me better, or making me happy… I’m not making time for it.” This year everything I say yes to is being put through that filter.
Smaller Goals/Things I’d Love to do…
- Become a tidier person
- Less time scrolling social media
- Learn calligraphy
- Practice better self-care
- Start a gratitude journal
- Over think less
- Find the courage to get my second lobe piercing
- Finish learning Bach’s Italian Concerto on the piano
What are you planning for the year ahead?
